How to stop Windows 10 from spying on you

Ok so to start off this blog im going to give you a tip on how to stop Windows 10 from spying on you. We all know that Microsoft moved from a "you buy a new licence for your software every upgrade and when you buy Office" etc to a "we will give you this for free" business model, but what they also didnt quite tell everyone was that this would cost your data. Thats right, they gave you Windows 10 for free so they could then extract your data from it and use this to sell you advertising. Now if like me your computer is your own private device where you create things, store your photos, your music, your bank detail and records, your business financials etc you might not want everything you do being sent off to the cloud somewhere so Microsoft can get there hands on it to use this to send you contextual advertising or even worse, sell your details to other people so they can use it however they want. This is what Microsoft now do with your data.
So what can you do to stop this from happening? Well the internet is full of programs that tell you they can stop this from happening and a lot of them do actually work but they also add their own malware or spyware and will then spam you their own products instead. Not good.
So far one of the only companies i have found that dont do this is Spybot, remember them from their search and destroy malware and spyware detection and deletion program? well they have made a program called Anti Beacon and it stops Microsoft from spying on you by stopping them by blocking the services in your Hosts file. What this does is when any program wants to send Microsoft any data, it cant because Anti Beacon has told it to send it nowhere so the program cant connect to the internet and cant send your data to Microsoft so your info stays where it should, on your computer.
You can read more and get it from here https://www.safer-networking.org/spybot-anti-beacon/
or you can just search Safer Networking Anti Beacon in your chosen search engine and go to it from there. I dont get paid from them and this is not an advert for their service so i dont care if you install it or not i just think its great that someone has made this piece of software available for free and doesnt bundle any other software you didnt want with it.
At the end of the day, its about your data, do you want to keep it yours or do you want some unknown person at some remote location checking up on you? I mean you wouldnt show anyone off the street your bank statement would you?
