Windows Hacking tools and the NSA, should you be worried?

Unless you have been living under a rock the past few weeks you will have seen that the NSA (National Security Agency) in the USA had some hacking tools that they could use to gain access to PCs and check out what they were doing, these tools have been leaked online and now everyone is saying that Microsoft must have made backdoors for the NSA to use in their Microsoft Windows Systems like Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1 and Windows 10.

Ok so here is my take on this, we already know that Microsoft wants to sell its Windows Operating system to Governments worldwide, this is what brings in a lot of its cash so it shows them the source code for Windows so that the governments can check and make sure that they agree that it is safe enough for them to use as it would be used in a lot of top secret information sharing between government agencies so they have to know that there are no backdoors or other ways that other governments could get into their systems. So with that in mind if Microsoft have given the source code out to governments if they had hidden a backdoor for the NSA the governments would spot this and not use Windows and move to something else like Linux etc which obviously Microsoft doesnt want which is why it shows the governments the source code directly so they can see there is nothing hidden in it.

Microsoft have also already patched the holes that the NSA spytools used so as long as you have a good firewall on your PC and have it set to block any unknown incoming traffic to ports you dont know and you have the latest updates on your PC then you will be fine. Sure you will get someone taking the tools and testing them out to see if they can find an unprotected PC but you can make sure yours is not one of them.

So do i think Microsoft is allowing anyone to have backdoors into your computer? No because this would damage their credability to sell software to Governments worldwide including the US and UK and Europe etc which would vastly damage their income so what would be the point? Like i said if you have all the latest patches and you have a good firewall on your computer then there isnt really much these tools can do against you. If you need a free firewall just google ZoneAlarm and download that as it is a good basic firewall if you dont have one already.

In conclusion i dont think you should be worried and even if the media bangs on about the tools and how hackers could use them to gain control of your PC, dont listen to them as long as you are updated and with a firewall youre fine
